About Capernaum

Young Life Capernaum is a ministry focused on teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering them a place to build friendships, grow in faith, and feel fully included. Founded in 1986, it now operates in over 30 countries and integrates participants into the broader Young Life community while also hosting tailored clubs, events, and small groups. The program centers around relationship-building, fun and inclusive gatherings (called Clubs), Bible studies (Campaigners), and life-changing camp experiences—all designed to reflect the message that everyone is made on purpose for a purpose.

The impact is significant: nearly all participants report feeling more connected, forming friendships, and growing spiritually. Volunteers and families alike describe deep bonds and renewed hope. Through laughter, shared experiences, and open conversations about faith, Capernaum provides a supportive environment where young people with disabilities are celebrated, seen, and empowered to live meaningful lives in community and in Christ.
